Yosemite National Park's Upper Yosemite Falls & Yosemite ValleyYosemite National Park embraces a spectacular tract of mountain and valley scenery in the Sierra Nevada. Yosemite National Park is one of the aesthetic wonders of World. Established in 1890 it includes more than 1,200 square miles of wilderness, with elevations ranging from 2,000 feet to more than 13,000 feet. Each year its scenic wonders attract over 3 million visitors from all over the world. The main attraction is Yosemite Valley with eight dramatic waterfalls, 3,000 foot vertical granite walls enclosing it on three sides, and lush green meadows, bisected by the Merced River. Yosemite National Park's Half DomeYosemite National Park located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of central California is a setting so fantastic and awe inspiring that it is often referred to as the "Crown Jewel" of the National Park system. Earthquakes, glaciers and other forces of nature over millions of years left permanent footprints on the landscape that are still visible in the lofty granite cliffs, thundering waterfalls, steep mountains and deep alpine lakes. They summon visitors to explore, climb, photograph and feel their majesty.

DIRECTIONS TO YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

Yosemite National Park is relatively easy to get to from anywhere in the world. All public roadways into the Park are well-maintained and open year-round, with the exception of Tioga Road (Tioga Pass, Highway 120 East between Crane Flat and Highway 395 in Lee Vining).

Travel by Car

There are four different ways to enter Yosemite National Park: Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, Highway 120 east from Modesto,Highway 120 west from Lee Vining and Highway 395. Yosemite Lodging & Vacation Home Rentals is located in Wawona ( see map insert ).

During the winter months check road conditions here: Highway 41 / Highway 120 / Highway 140. Consider carrying tire chains between November and April.

Yosemite does NOT restrict auto access into the Park at any time of year. For guest convenience, a free shuttle services 21 stops throughout Yosemite Valley, as well as transportation between Yosemite Valley and Badger Pass in the winter and between Wawona's Pioneer Gift & Grocery and Mariposa Grove of Big Trees in the warmer months

- 1 hour to Southern entrance via Hwy 41.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- 2 ½ hours to Big Oak Flat entrance via Hwy 120, 3 ½ hours to heart of Yosemite Valley.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- 6 hours to Yosemite Valley via I-5 to Hwy 99 to Hwy 41.
Oakland (OAK)
- 2 ½ hours to Big Oak Flat entrance via Hwy 120, 3 ½ hours to heart of Yosemite Valley.
Sacramento (SMF)
- 2 ¼ hours to Big Oak Flat entrance via Hwy 120, 3 ¼ hours to heart of Yosemite Valley.
Reno International Airport (RNO)
- 4 hours to Yosemite Valley via Hwy 395 and Hwy 120 Tioga Road (June - Oct) Call ahead for road opening.
Las Vegas Airport (LAS)
- 8-9 hours to Yosemite Valley via Hwy 395 and Hwy 120 Tioga Road (June - Oct). Call ahead for road opening.

Travel by Bus

· Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) - Offers individual and group fares for motorcoach service into Yosemite from numerous gateway communities. Round trip and one way fares are available and include Park entrance fees. Call (877) 989-2787 for schedules and information.
· Greyhound - No direct service to Yosemite, but can be combined with YARTS service from Merced, CA. (800) 229-9424 or (800) 531-5332 (en Español)

Travel by Train

· AMTRAK - Trains serve San Diego, Los Angeles, Fresno, San Jose, San Francisco and Sacramento to and from Merced/Riverbank and connects with VIA bus lines for direct luxury motorcoach into Yosemite Valley.
